Studio Groen+Schild are an agency for architecture and interior architecture, with both domestic and foreign projects. Our team comprises interior architects, architects, architectural engineers, and an office manager. Good design requires expertise, creativity and an integrated approach. We appoint a design team per project that is involved from the beginning to the end. Specialist knowledge in the area of sustainability, building regulations, acoustics and installation are integrated in the design from the off. Our tools comprise current software. Revit, Autocad, Vectorworks and Sketchup support a three-dimensional design process. This enables us to form optimal collaborations with other consultants and contractors. Our 3D-presentations allow the client to visualize the area right from the first ideas.
Ellen Schild
Management / Architect
Architect and director Ellen Schild founded studio Groen+Schild together with Tine Groen in 2002. Ellen's knowledge in the field of architecture and interior design enables her to create a complete oneness of the interior and exterior. She enthuses about clear designs and honest materials and is passionate about transforming existing buildings. Her analytic skills and empathetic imposition helps her to connect people inside and outside the studio. She accomplishes this with her friendly and clear demeanour and she always delivers the right result no matter how complex the task. Ellen feels a successful design is one that transcends the conventional and amazes the client. She is inspired from meeting passionate people, travelling and visual art.
Tine Groen
Management / Interior Architect
Interior architect - Tine Groen - set up her studio in September 2000 and continued further together with Ellen as Studio Groen+Schild from 2002. As a professional, Tine is capable of creating interiors at every level. Working nationally and internationally has taught her to fathom the background and the wishes of her client and given her an eye for various cultural aspects. That is also where she draws her inspiration from: she wants to deliver the best result for every project. Tine feel the freedom her profession affords her is essential. The freedom to create new spaces which in turn helps her to make a better living environment is her motivation. Her wide-ranging knowledge and enthusiasm is an inspiration to people both within and outside the studio.
Arnold de Bruin
Architect
Arnold has been working at the studio since March 2019. From 2008 he gained experience as an architect and worked on various projects: from urban planning tasks to the transformation of existing buildings. As an experienced designer, Arnold always has an eye for the context of the assignment: the history of the place, the wishes of the user and the feasibility of a design are important to him. With his predilection for the transformation of old buildings, he is at home in the studio. His ambition is to improve the existing quality of the built environment with clear interventions. Making cool projects, that's what he goes for.
Rosanne Bommartini
Interior Architect
Interior architect - Rosanne - has been working for the studio since 2011. Rosanne is very experienced in designing large-scale interiors and considers it important that people feel at ease in her designs. To ensure this, she places a great emphasis on listening intently to people and translating their wishes: Nobody does this better than Rosanne. She knows how to enthuse people and to connect with them. Rosanne is passionate and knowledgeable about beautiful materials, furnishings and colours. She creates her designs as a painter: if it is an harmonious whole, then she is truly satisfied.
Thijs Bongers
Structural Engineer
Thijs has been working at the studio since November 2011. He likes complex spatial assignments, interior projects that touch on architecture. With his analytical skills he knows how to come up with an original solution for every spatial puzzle. Because he has a lot of knowledge of various computer programs, he knows how to visualize the solutions in a clear way. Thijs is versatile: He is a BIM expert and, as a product designer, has a preference for furniture design. In the summer he likes to take his racing bike to cycle the 55 km to the studio.
Loran Kampen
Interior Architect
Interior architect and project leader - Loran - has been working for Groen+Schild since February 2017. She handles large-scale interior projects. Loran feels it is her task to develop and monitor concepts in the projects. She achieves this by involving users in the design process and by enthusing them for the project. Personally, Loran loves nothing better than old industrial buildings, city plans, historical city centres, street signs, house numbers, guerrilla gardening and shoes. Loran is versatile, social and likes working in a team. Her motivation is working with and for people.
Dyneke Kuiken
Interior Architect
Interior architect Dyneke Kuiken worked for several years as a freelancer for the studio but now works for Groen+Schild since 2017. As a designer, she has a fascination of creating order and structure. A structure that exudes tranquillity and provides people with a warm feeling. She creates order in the chaos. She accomplishes this by delving into people’s desires and understanding their behaviour. The design as resting point, that’s what appeals to her. She is solution-oriented, positive and fun and her qualities maker her indispensable to the team. Her intuitive approach yields unexpected solutions.
Kim Mazeland
Interior Architect
Interior architect Kim Mazeland graduated with honors in 2017 in Mechelen Belgium. She has been working for the studio since December 2017 and has graduated for the study Master Interior Architecture in Utrecht in 2019. Kim likes to work out designs to perfection. She wants to make unique designs and is ambitious. She searches just until she finds the right solution. She is eager to learn, enthusiastic and social. In her spare time in addition to work and study, she prefers to have family and friends around her. An ultimate recreation for her is doing her own jobs.
Geesje Bruinewoud
Office Manager
Office manager Geesje has been working for the studio since January 2006. She is the hub of the organisation and is up to date on the goings on inside and outside the studio. Geesje is the first point of contact for clients and visitors and enjoys working in a creative environment and supporting her colleagues. She makes sure that everything runs smoothly by taking care of the administration, arranging the facility issues and handling the PR. Geesje is proud of her beautiful workplace and enjoys receiving guests at the Grey Silo - even after office hours. She draws her inspiration from people and music and likes going to concerts.
Kirsten Schets
Interior Architect
Interior architect graduated from the HKU in 2014 is working at the studio since September 2019. Renovating homes and creating interiors for living is her specialty. She can empathize with customers well and translate their wishes into a personal, beautiful and functional design. She prefers working on renovations of old buildings, looking for the beauty of the space and showing and enhancing it. An assignment is successful if she has created a personal design together with the client, whereby the client feels at home.
Marcel van der Kroef
Structural Engineer
Marcel is in the final year of his Master in Architecture at the Academy of Architecture in Arnhem and started working at the Studio in April 2022. He prefers to work on challenging architectural assignments for enthusiastic clients. Taking the design to a higher level is what he strives for. He focuses on connecting old-new, interior-exterior, building context and design realization. Besides work and study, he enjoys running and diving in exotic locations. He likes anything that has a computer chip and shows some form of technological intelligence.
Elkie Goos
Interior Architect
Interior architect Elkie graduated from the HKU in 2014 and has been working at the studio since September 2020. After her studies she worked at an architectural firm in the south of the country where she gained experience designing large-scale interiors. She worked in different teams on various assignments: from school to museum. This diversity appeals to her, because time and again she can delve into her client and the specific wishes for the use of space. She likes to make mood boards and loves patterns, colors and beautiful materials.
