The UAF is the oldest refugee agency in the Netherlands. It supports highly-educated refugees by helping them obtain a suitable social position. The organisation was founded in 1948 after the student uprising in Prague was brutally put down. A group of fifty Czechoslovakian students fled to the Netherlands. They were afforded the opportunity to complete their studies as a result of an initiative by the Dutch universities. Studio Groen+Schild in partnership with SKVL designed their new office in Utrecht. We ensured that, in addition to the colour, a place was allocated in the design which told the stories of the refugees. Making sure the interior reflected the identity of the organisation.
