On behalf of SVE Group, we are collaborating with Mulderblauw, Studio Vinke, Atelier Loos van Vliet, and Lüchinger Architects on the transformation of the former Roto Smeets site in our own city, Deventer. The ambition for the redevelopment of the site is to create a surprisingly urban and sustainable live-work area.
The historical layers of the area are an important theme. The industrial heritage of the printing house with its sawtooth roofs will be preserved and become one of the hotspots in the new neighborhood. The combination of living and working contributes to the economic development of Deventer. Due to its location at the intersection of different areas, ROTO seems to be the ideal location to serve as a 'hub' for Deventer's three economic profiles: Open Information City, Captivating Experience City, and Sustainable Manufacturing City. Together with the rich history of the site, ROTO will become a dynamic neighborhood with high quality of stay, where living and working go hand in hand.
In the coming period, Studio Groen+Schild will continue to work with the design team to finalize the master plan, and we, as architects, are involved in the design for the redevelopment of the industrial heritage and part of the new live-work buildings.
